Move-In Day

Parents say goodbye.

Thousands of students start a new journey today. Not one of them can fully anticipate how their lives will be different four years from now. They are entering into one of the most formative seasons of their lives, at a time and place of great turmoil in our country.

I can remember when my parents dropped me off at Smith Hall. I’m so thankful that the organization of Cru was on campus and provided support not only for me to graduate, but to find a true faith in Christ that I hope impacts my wife, kids, and the students we interact with. When I first arrived on campus I never could have imagined what would happen during those 4 years.

The university wants good for all of these students, though there are challenges it faces. The university’s definition of “good” varies depending upon whom one is talking to. A secular university like OSU is limited in what it can do without a unified moral framework, as Dr. Chad Wellmon of The University of Virginia in Charlottesville writes.

We are a movement that believes Jesus has never been more relevant to the college campus. We are a movement of hundreds of students and faculty that believe Jesus is the true king and that his teaching to love our neighbor as ourselves is imperative. Please pray we can help to provide what a secular university struggles to provide, not just theoretical moral principles but real people who try daily to follow Jesus and embody his selfless love.
